Ditch the toxic tick & flea collars and chemical shampoos/treatments for this DIY Bug Repellent.
Bug Repellent Ingredients:
4 oz Dark amber or blue glass spray bottle
2 Drops Cedarwood Essential Oil
2 Drops Geranium Essential Oil
2 Drops Rose Essential Oil
2 Drops lemongrass Essential oil
Distilled or filtered water to fill bottle
Bug Repellent Instructions:
Add all ingredients to bottle, add water leaving enough space for sprayer & lid.
Shake before using each time.
For face: spray into hands and rub together, then smooth over snout, forehead,
neck and outside ears – avoid eyes, nose and inner ears.
For body: spray all over dog’s coat and rub into fur – avoid the genitals.
Spray before going outside periodically. See Notes.
Notes
• In my personal experience, I was able to lengthen the time between
applications to once/week with multiple daily outdoors.
• You’ll have to re-apply after bathing.
• This recipe is specifically for dogs (and humans). Please be aware that cats have
different essential oil tolerances.
• Please exercise caution when using essential oils for pets. Dogs and cats have
unique and potentially toxic reactions to various oils. Quantity matters, too.
Essential oils need to be diluted properly for your dog’s safety.
